What a custom colour screen is used for
The named colour pages cover the shades people search for. This one covers everything else — a brand colour, a value out of a design file, a specific grey you are trying to match against a print.
Because the colour lives in the URL rather than in the page, it behaves like a document: bookmark it, send it to someone, or keep several open in tabs to compare.

Sharing a colour as a link
Every change you make is written into the address bar as ?hex=, without adding to your browser history. Copy the URL and the person you send it to sees the same colour at the same fullscreen size — no screenshot, no colour profile guesswork about what a JPEG did to it.
This also means a configured screen can be bookmarked. If you regularly need one particular shade for lighting or testing, save the link rather than retyping the code.
How to get any colour at full screen
Enter a hex code — three digits or six, with or without the leading hash — and press Enter. Then press F or the fullscreen button. Escape returns you to the page.
The download button saves the current colour as a PNG at your screen’s pixel dimensions, which is useful as a wallpaper or as a flat background in another application.
